The agent registration process requires a valid connection to the View Connection Server. The administrator must provide the correct credentials to establish a successful connection between the View Connection Server and the Linux virtual machine.

The View administrator password contains a special character that was not escaped: Another possible cause for the "Agent Registration Failed" error is when the View administrator password contains a special character that was not properly escaped. For instance, the administrator's password may contain a backslash character (), which is used as an escape character in Linux. In this case, the administrator must escape the backslash character by adding another backslash before it. Failure to escape the special characters in the password can cause authentication failure while connecting to the View Connection Server.

The other two options (A and C) are less likely to cause the "Agent Registration Failed" error. Joining the Linux virtual machine to Active Directory (A) is not mandatory for the installation of the Horizon Agent. However, it may be necessary to access certain Active Directory resources, such as user information, later. The /var partition is responsible for storing temporary files, log files, and other system-related data. Running out of free space in the /var partition (C) can cause issues, but it is unlikely to be the root cause of the agent registration failure.
