Search Scope Options Removed from Directory Handler When "Voice Enabled" Checkbox is Checked

In Cisco Unity Connection, when you configure a Directory Handler, you have the option to enable the "Voice enabled" checkbox. This option allows users to search for and call other users by name using their phone's dial pad.

When you enable the "Voice enabled" checkbox, two search scope options are removed from the Directory Handler configuration:

1. Class of service: This option controls which users are able to access the Directory Handler based on their class of service (CoS) settings. CoS settings define the level of service or access that a user has to the phone system. When you enable the "Voice enabled" checkbox, the Directory Handler becomes available to all users, regardless of their CoS settings. Therefore, the option to configure the search scope based on CoS is removed.

2. Partition: This option controls which phone numbers are included in the search results for the Directory Handler. Partitions are used to define dialing scopes and can be assigned to different groups of phone numbers. When you enable the "Voice enabled" checkbox, the Directory Handler becomes available to all phone numbers, regardless of their partition assignment. Therefore, the option to configure the search scope based on partitions is removed.

The other answer options listed are not affected by enabling the "Voice enabled" checkbox:

• Search space: This option defines which partitions are accessible for a given calling search space. It is not removed when enabling the "Voice enabled" checkbox.
• System distribution list: This option allows you to specify a distribution list to be used as the target for directory searches. It is not affected by enabling the "Voice enabled" checkbox.
• Phone system: This option allows you to specify which phone system the Directory Handler should be associated with. It is not affected by enabling the "Voice enabled" checkbox.
