https://docs.cloud.oracle.com/en-us/iaas/Content/Network/Concepts/fastconnectoverview.htmIf a customer wants a dedicated and low latency connection between their on-premises data center and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), they should choose OCI FastConnect.
OCI FastConnect is a dedicated, private network connectivity service that provides higher bandwidth options and a more reliable and consistent networking experience compared to public internet-based connectivity or VPN-based connectivity. It allows customers to connect directly to OCI's cloud services through a private network connection rather than over the internet.
OCI FastConnect can provide a dedicated connection that ranges from 1 Gbps to 100 Gbps, which is significantly higher than a VPN connection. The latency of the connection is also lower because it is a dedicated private connection that avoids the public internet's unpredictability and congestion.
On the other hand, IPSec Virtual Private Network ( VPN) and Virtual Cloud Network Remote Peering are other connectivity options available in OCI. However, these options are designed for remote connectivity over the public internet and cannot provide the same level of dedicated and low-latency connectivity as OCI FastConnect.
Public internet connectivity is also an option, but it is not recommended for applications that require low latency, high bandwidth, and a consistent network experience because of the unpredictable nature of the public internet.
