After signing up for a new Oracle Cloud Infrastructure tenancy, to deploy infrastructure and services in different parts of the world, you would subscribe to Regions.

Regions are separate geographic areas that contain one or more data centers. Each region is completely independent and has its own set of services, including compute, storage, and networking. By subscribing to a region, you can deploy and manage resources within that specific geographic area.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure currently has over 30 regions worldwide, including North America, South America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East. Each region has multiple Availability Domains (ADs) that provide redundancy and fault tolerance within the region.

Availability Domains (ADs) are isolated locations within a region that are designed to be independent and fault-tolerant. They are physically separated from each other, so that a failure or outage in one AD does not affect the others. ADs also have their own power and cooling infrastructure, which further enhances their resilience.

Fault Domains, on the other hand, are another way to achieve high availability and fault tolerance within a single AD. A fault domain is a grouping of hardware and infrastructure within an AD that share a common power source and network switch. By distributing your resources across multiple fault domains, you can minimize the impact of hardware failures, maintenance activities, and other disruptions.

Pay-as-you-go pricing is a billing model that allows you to pay for cloud services based on your usage, without upfront commitments or long-term contracts. This pricing model is available for all Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services, regardless of the region or AD you choose to deploy them in.
