The public IP address of a NAT (Network Address Translation) device is an outside global address.
NAT is a technique used to enable multiple devices on a private network to share a single public IP address. The NAT device is responsible for translating the private IP addresses of devices on the internal network into a public IP address that can be used on the internet.
To achieve this, NAT uses two types of addresses:
Inside Local: This is the IP address assigned to a device on the private network. It is not globally unique and is not routable on the public internet.
Outside Global: This is the IP address that is used on the public internet. It is globally unique and is assigned by an internet registry.
When a device on the private network communicates with a device on the public internet, the NAT device translates the Inside Local address of the device to the Outside Global address of the NAT device. When the device on the public internet replies, the NAT device translates the Outside Global address back to the Inside Local address of the device on the private network.
Therefore, the public IP address of the NAT device is an outside global address because it is the address that is used on the public internet to communicate with devices on the private network.
