Replicating a Read-Only DNS Zone

To replicate a read-only copy of a DNS zone named contoso.com to SRV2, you can follow the steps below:

1. Sign in to the primary DNS server that hosts the contoso.com DNS zone.
2. Open the DNS Manager console by typing "dnsmgmt.msc" in the Run dialog box.
3. In the left pane of the DNS Manager console, expand the DNS server, and then expand the Forward Lookup Zones folder.
4. Right-click on the contoso.com DNS zone and select Properties.
5. In the contoso.com Properties dialog box, click on the Zone Transfers tab.
6. Select the checkbox next to "Allow zone transfers" and then select the option "Only to servers listed on the Name Servers tab".
7. Click on the Add button and type the IP address of the SRV2 server, and then click OK.
8. Click Apply and OK to save the changes.

Now, the primary DNS server is configured to allow zone transfers to the SRV2 server. You will need to configure the SRV2 server to receive the read-only copy of the contoso.com DNS zone by following these steps:

1. Sign in to the SRV2 server.
2. Open the DNS Manager console.
3. In the left pane of the DNS Manager console, right-click on the Forward Lookup Zones folder, and select New Zone.
4. In the New Zone Wizard, select the option "Secondary zone" and then click Next.
5. In the Zone Name field, type "contoso.com" and then click Next.
6. In the Zone Master Servers field, type the IP address of the primary DNS server that hosts the contoso.com DNS zone, and then click Add.
7. Click Next and then click Finish to complete the wizard.

Now, the SRV2 server will automatically receive a read-only copy of the contoso.com DNS zone from the primary DNS server. If any changes are made to the contoso.com DNS zone on the primary DNS server, the changes will be automatically replicated to the SRV2 server.
