To ensure that sensitive information needed for email sends is NOT imported and stored in Marketing Cloud, the Marketing Cloud admin should implement "Tokenized Sending."

Tokenized Sending is a feature in Marketing Cloud that allows sensitive data to be tokenized and securely stored outside the Marketing Cloud platform. This means that the sensitive data is not stored in Marketing Cloud and is instead replaced with a token or unique identifier that is used for email sends.

When an email is sent, the token is used to retrieve the necessary sensitive information from the external storage location, and the email is sent to the recipient with the necessary information included. The recipient can then use the token to securely retrieve the sensitive information.

Tokenized Sending helps ensure the security and privacy of sensitive data by reducing the amount of sensitive data that is stored in Marketing Cloud and minimizing the risk of data breaches.

Data At Rest Encryption and Field Level Encryption are also security features in Marketing Cloud, but they do not directly address the issue of sensitive information being imported and stored in Marketing Cloud. Data At Rest Encryption helps protect data that is stored in Marketing Cloud by encrypting it when it is at rest, and Field Level Encryption helps protect data by encrypting specific fields in Marketing Cloud.
