When you enable self-service password reset for your users, the user experience will be as follows:
B. Your users will be prompted to enter additional contact information.
The first time your users sign in after you enable self-service password reset, they will be prompted to enter additional contact information. This contact information includes a mobile phone number and/or an alternate email address. This information is used to verify the identity of the user in case they forget their password and need to reset it.
After the user enters the additional contact information, they will be asked to verify it. This can be done through a code sent to their mobile phone or alternate email address. Once the verification is complete, the user will be able to use self-service password reset if they forget their password in the future.
It is important to note that users are not required to download the authenticator app or update their password after self-service password reset is enabled. The additional contact information is the only new requirement for the user experience.
